This was an issue I was facing in the beginning days of my blogging when I applied for AdSense approval. It might be the same issue which is bothering you now, making you land here.

Out of my experience and some research, I finally got through it. But there are many bloggers who are still struggling on this issue. So let’s talk AdSense for some time.

There are many issues leading us to SCRAPED CONTENT VIOLATION. Some are minor while others are major issues. They all lead us to a very common and most disgusting statement from AdSense called "VALUABLE INVENTORY: SCRAPED CONTENT". Let us understand the reasons leading to it one by one.

SCRAPED CONTENT & PLAGIARISM

It is an act of fraud where other's content or material is rewritten as one’s own. In simple words, it is stealing someone’s content on a website and re-writing the same on yours.

This is a very common practice in olden days when the online federal laws were not as strict as they are now. This is a problem haunting for decades in the scientific community.

Earlier articles written by one author are duplicated by another.

Plagiarism has shown its full-blown impact on the scientific community in 1990's. Hence many anti-plagiarism steps have evolved in publishing communities.

Now plagiarism has become a serious offence in scientific publishing.

Internet plagiarism has grown in a similar fashion. We have many sites running with the same copied content. There are no organizations or committees to offend such activity.

It is illegal and unethical to publish other's content on their own sites.

PLAGIARISM AND ADSENSE

Adding or copying someone’s content into your website is a fraudulent activity. AdSense cannot publish ads on such websites. Hence this can be one of the reasons to reject AdSense in your website.

Recently I have seen a few forums where people come up with surprising situations. These situations have led to SCRAPED CONTENT VIOLATION.

Some publishers are very confident about their content and anti-plagiarism. But still, they are facing issues with AdSense. Such situations do arise on various occasions.

During content writing, we may replicate some content that is already on the web. It can be unintentional but rectifying it is important.

The plagiarism checker algorithms consider them as a policy violation.

Hence we should check our content for plagiarism before publishing. Here are a few websites where we can check for plagiarism.

https://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/
https://www.duplichecker.com/
https://www.prepostseo.com/plagiarism-checker

Paste your article in these sites and check for plagiarism. There may be some sentences which appear as if they are already on the web.

Though it is not the true intention of the author, correcting them is a good practice.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

If your site is on product reviews, then you must be very cautious before applying for AdSense. Copying the buyer's review related to the product, from an e-commerce website is not good.

EVEN IF IT IS YOUR REVIEW ON AMAZON, IF YOU COPY THE SAME INTO YOUR WEBSITE, IT IS CONSIDERED AS SCRAPED CONTENT.
Product reviews from buyers in e-commerce website are already indexed in search engines. Hence copying such content is a policy violation for AdSense.

LESS CONTENT IN YOUR SITE

With a few articles in your site, you cannot expect AdSense to approve your site. The AdSense bot may identify it as insufficient content or may project it as scraped content.

Such situations appear to be surprising, it has happened to some publishers. Hence publishers have to wait till 30 to 50 articles are present in their blog, before going for AdSense.

Any ad agency is more interested in showing ads on websites with good traffic. Hence the first step in monetizing your site is to increase traffic.

PREVIOUS SCRAPPED CONTENT WHICH IS ALREADY INDEXED IN GOOGLE

This is the second common scenario. AdSense shows scraping content warning even after removing such content from your site.

In simple words, the content writer ads a scraped content which is unintentional. Later when he gets warning from AdSense, he will delete the content before re-applying.

Inspite of such corrective activity, AdSense will be resilient and shows the warning.

This happens in situations where your webpage is already indexed in Google. Since then it has not changed.

You can prevent such situations by requesting for re-indexing your webpage. You can do this with the help of Google search console.

IMAGES SHOULD BE EDITED

This is a major issue which comes under scraped content. Images in your blog or site should be original and not copied from other sites.

At times we use images from free platforms like Pixabay. Editing and personalizing such images before publishing is advisable.

Edit the names of pictures and add some "alt data" before publishing them on to your site.

These days it is very easy to identify the origin of images. For example, using Google lens you can find out similar images with their origins.

In such context AdSense, Google’s sister company may not find difficulty in finding used content.

IMAGES FROM PINTREST

AdSense may consider an image from Pinterest as a scraped content. Embedding images from pintrest using java script may be policy violation too.

This is my personal experience. Few of my blogs got approved only after removing such images.

IMAGES FROM E-COMMERCE SITE OR SOCIAL MEDIA

We see many blogs with indiscriminate use of images from e-commerce websites.

Using such images in your site is a content violation. There are many genuine methods of using images from e-commerce sites.

For example, to use Amazon images, you have to use AMAZON SITE STRIPE TO GENERATE LINKS TO THAT IMAGES. Using amazon images with the help of direct links is a content violation and will is a scraped content.

Images from social media are also examples of scraped content. As we find it difficult to know the original publisher of the image, it is wise to avoid such images.

USING PICTURE CREDITS AND ALT DESCRIPTIONS IN IMAGES IS ADVISABLE.

GUEST POSTS

Beware of guest posts. If you guest post your article before you publish it on your website, it may be a policy violation.

There are many platforms like Medium or MIX where you can guest-post your content.

My sincere suggestion is to stop such activity until you get AdSense approval for your blog.

I don’t say that these are the exact ways of correcting it. These are a few probable ways of overcoming the scraped content warning.

My experience and my interactions with fellow content writers have helped me in gaining knowledge in this regard.

I may be correct or wrong. This is what I have learned all these years with good experience in applying for AdSense. Hope you like the post. If so, share it with your friends.
